The Space Needle is like a beacon for fun. Over the years, it’s shown people a lot of great times (not to mention stunning views). There’s always something interesting going on here. And the Space Needle’s future is bound to be an exciting one. Below, you’ll find a collection of some of our favorite stories — from way back when, right now, and into the future.
HISTORIC / 1960’s -2000’s
1982: A BIGGER, BETTER SPACE NEEDLE

The Space Needle underwent some great changes in the early ‘80s. The revolving restaurant got a facelift, the top house was renovated, and most noticeably, the 100-foot “SkyLine Level” was added. Housing banquet facilities, the SkyLine Level was part of the original Space Needle design but wasn’t built until now.   [View]

Knute “Skip” Berger: Writer in Residence

Writer and editor for some of Seattle’s favorite publications (online and off), Knute Berger has been named the Space Needle’s Writer in Residence. In the coming months, he’ll be here interviewing people for a book he’s writing to commemorate the Needle’s 50th Anniversary.   [View]
