WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2062.
The Space Needle has always been ahead of its time. It was created as a tribute to America’s Space Age, the theme of the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. And back then, its ultramodern design raised eyebrows (and fueled imaginations) all around town. But the Space Needle’s bold optimism and mid-century cool have endured beautifully. And to this day, it’s a remarkably fun, futuristic symbol of Seattle’s quirky, innovative spirit.
We know that our next 50 years will be every bit as amazing as the last 50 years. And we can’t wait to celebrate our region’s next cutting-edge breakthroughs — in fields like art, architecture, computing, music, aviation, gaming, and…you name it.
